Position Overview
The Industrial Painter is responsible for preparing and coating metal parts to meet production and quality standards. This Industrial Painter role involves surface preparation, primer application, and maintaining paint equipment while ensuring all work is completed safely and efficiently.
Required Experience & Skills
• Experience with industrial or automotive painting
• Ability to use spray guns and wet paint systems
• Knowledge of surface preparation (sanding, grinding, masking, filling)
• Ability to read and follow work instructions and simple drawings
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to safely handle chemicals and painting materials
• Experience using hand and power tools
• Ability to differentiate between colors
• Strong teamwork and communication skills
• High School Diploma or equivalent
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Industrial Painter role includes:
• Prepare parts by sanding, grinding, masking, filling, and buffing surfaces
• Mix and apply primer coatings according to specifications
• Set up and operate painting equipment safely and efficiently
• Inspect parts to ensure quality standards and work order requirements are met
• Identify and correct surface defects and blemishes
• Troubleshoot paint-related issues and provide feedback
• Maintain and clean paint booths and equipment
• Follow all PPE, safety procedures, and hazardous material guidelines
• Support Lean, quality, and safety initiatives
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Preferred Experience
• Experience in industrial or automotive paint environments
• Experience with wet spray paint systems for steel components
• Familiarity with paint thickness (millage) and coating specifications
Physical Requirements
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Frequent standing, bending, stooping, and squatting
• Ability to work in a manufacturing/paint shop environment
• Ability to work with chemicals and protective equipment
