The targeted hiring range for this full-time position is $70,600-$95,300 depending on

qualifications

Job Description



Position Summary:
The Sustaining Engineer is responsible for maintaining and improving existing products and manufacturing processes to ensure consistent quality, performance, and efficiency. This role works cross-functionally with production, quality, sourcing, and design teams to resolve technical issues, implement process improvements, and support lifecycle management of current product lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and troubleshoot production issues related to existing footwear products.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reduce waste, and improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement design changes, material substitutions, or tooling updates.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality or performance concerns.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of product specifications, process changes, and engineering updates.
  • Assist in cost reduction efforts through material optimization and process refinement.
  • Ensure compliance with manufacturing standards and product performance requirements.

Qualifications



Qualifications

:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Design, or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, product engineering, or technical support, preferably in footwear or consumer goods.
  • Experience with CAD or parametric modeling tools (Inventor is preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective action processes.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, materials, and tooling used in footwear production.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and operational teams.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Primarily operates in an office environment that requires frequent typing and manual dexterity for computer use. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

On-site in Red Wing, MN. Occasional travel required.
