Job Description

Risk Director

About Interchecks

Interchecks is a fast-growing B2B2C fintech payments company powering how money moves in highly regulated industries. Our platform enables enterprise customers to embed secure, compliant payment experiences directly into their products, helping them move, manage, and monetize payments at scale.

We partner with some of the most recognizable operators in fintech and online gaming, solving complex payment and compliance challenges with modern infrastructure and thoughtful product design. We care deeply about building reliable technology, moving fast without cutting corners, and creating a company where smart, motivated people can do the best work of their careers.

The Opportunity
We're scaling our business across new verticals, sponsor banks and products, and our risk function needs to scale with it. We need someone to own critical risk workstreams, improve existing processes while building new ones from the ground up. This is a hands-on role — you will be building and executing.

What You'll Own

  • Sponsor bank relationships: Risk frameworks and monitoring for new and existing banking partners
  • Transaction monitoring and reporting: Uplift our transaction monitoring systems and unusual activity reporting
  • Network compliance: Visa, Mastercard and payment network rules/requirements; ACH compliance (NACHA)
  • Regulatory compliance: Federal and state regulations relevant to our products, operations, partners and customers
  • New vertical risk frameworks: Define onboarding, due diligence and risk policies for emerging products and markets
  • Risk reporting & analytics: Build internal management reporting, risk dashboards and support client-facing risk communications
  • Regulatory readiness: Support bank exams, audits and regulatory responses

Need To Have

  • Comfortable as an individual contributor on a small, fast-moving team (this is a do-er role, not a delegator role)
  • Ability to operate with ambiguity (comfortable building where structure doesn't exist)
  • Bias toward solutions (doesn't just surface problems)
  • Ownership mindset (accountable for outcomes)
  • Strong judgment and decision-making (assess tradeoffs with imperfect info)
  • Clear communicator (explain to non-experts, tailor messaging)
  • Regulatory and compliance fluency (has worked with regulators, audits, policies — knows how to operationalize) Risk management experience in fintech/payments/regulated marketplaces

Nice To Have

  • Experience scaling within a high-growth company
  • Cross-functional influence (partnering with Legal, Finance, Product)
  • Data-driven risk modeling comfort
  • Multi-jurisdictional experience
  • Change management experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in payments, fintech, or financial services compliance (hungry, earlier-trajectory candidates welcome)

Compensation Transparency

The base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $175,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined within this range based on a number of factors, including but not limited to relevant experience, skills, role scope, and geographic location.

We are intentional about placing offers thoughtfully within the posted range to ensure internal equity, market alignment, and room for growth over time.

In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for:

  • Equity grants. You will be an owner of what you are building and share directly in the long-term success of Interchecks
  • Bonus Eligibility
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Unlimited paid time off and paid holidays
  • Wellness, learning, and home office stipends
  • Other benefits designed to support you both inside and outside of work

Final compensation decisions are made based on role scope, experience, and internal leveling.

Interchecks is committed to creating an inclusive and accessible hiring experience. If you require a reasonable accommodation to apply for a role or participate in the interview process, please contact PeopleOperations@interchecks.com
