Job Description

I’m working with a well-established mid-sized organization in Boston that’s looking to hire a hands-on IT Manager to lead and modernize their IT environment.

• 70–85% hands-on technical leadership (this is key)

Deep experience with:

• VMware and Microsoft 365 (O365, Azure, Entra, Teams, OneDrive)
• Networking fundamentals (switching, VLANs, firewalls)
• Security and infrastructure operations
• PowerShell or automation experience
• Exposure to Nutanix is a plus

What you’ll be doing:

• Own and improve a mixed cloud/on-prem environment (~60% cloud / 40% on-prem)
• Lead infrastructure upgrades across VMware and Nutanix
• Help operationalize security and compliance initiatives
• Partner closely with a small, experienced IT team
• Stay actively involved in day-to-day engineering work

The ideal profile:

• 7–12+ years of IT infrastructure experience
• Comes from a mid-sized environment (not overly siloed)
• Someone who wants to stay hands-on, not move into pure management
• Strong communicator who can work across technical and business teams

Additional notes:

• Local Boston area candidates preferred due to hybrid schedule
