Industrial Painter

Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Painter to apply high-quality protective coatings to steel and aluminum pedestrian bridges and related structures. This role is responsible for surface preparation, coating application, and maintenance of equipment while ensuring all work meets safety standards and customer specifications. Flexibility to work outside of scheduled hours is required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare steel and aluminum surfaces for painting, including cleaning, sanding, and blasting

• Mix and apply paints, epoxies, zinc coatings, and other high-performance coatings

• Apply coatings using brushes, rollers, and airless spray equipment

• Inspect finished surfaces to ensure quality, thickness, and adherence to specifications

• Maintain and clean painting and blasting equipment

• Monitor and report inventory levels for paint and related supplies

• Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and hazardous materials handling

• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and coating specifications

• Ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines and customer contract requirements

• Assist with cross-training in other departments as needed

• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding project status

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED

• Minimum of 2 years of industrial painting experience (e.g., 2-part epoxy, zinc, high-performance coatings)

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Basic computer skills or willingness to learn

• Forklift experience

• Overhead crane experience

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

• Ability to strictly follow safety guidelines and procedures

• Willingness to work overtime or outside scheduled hours

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of industrial painting experience

• NACE Certification

• SSPC Certification

Work Environment:

• Work performed in industrial and outdoor settings

• Exposure to varying weather conditions, fumes, and loud noise

• Requires standing, lifting, climbing, and working at heights

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

• Ability to stand, bend, and work for extended periods

• Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
